Joe and Jermonne are two boys with talent as large as a barn. What started out as their lifestyle has grown into a full time business offering vintage home and garden pieces to swoon over. At their barn and website you will find vintage baskets, vases, furniture, birdhouses, linens, clothing, toys - something for everyone. And they are located outside of Seattle so I will be making a road trip soon to visit their diggs.
As the build out for my shop continues at a rapid speed, I am spending time researching and sourcing products, fixtures and displays. One of my latest finds is designer duct tape from Fortis Designs. It comes in a burberry type print, wood grain {my personal favorite}, paisley, spots and wicker.
I heart poppies. They are bold, colorful and a little wild. I recently found a tote covered in poppies and had to have it.
It is true, hot off the press, our favorite characters from Mad Men will be available in fine Barbie form come July. Mattel has announced they will retail the dolls for $75 as part of a fashion promotion for Barbie. Donald Draper is on my wish list!
For the past 5 days I have spent most of my time with contractors and shopping at hardware stores - navigating my way through paint, wood beams, drywall and light fixtures, all in an effort to get my first retail store built out and open for business by April 2nd. This task would be daunting for a gal who does not know the difference between a nail and screw, except for the fact that hardware shops are filled with all sorts of great finds, even for me. I almost fell over and in love with tool belts and bags made by Klein, makers of tools, and handy bags for all those things. The bags are made from heavy duty canvas and leather, reminiscent of my favorite weekend bag by LL Bean. I picked out one for me, and one for my general contractor.
At some point during each day I end up putting on a pair of my favorite ballet flats. I have all the standard colors like pink, navy, black, along with some fancy styles in gold and cow hide print. I was so excited to see J Crew offering 55 new ballet styles in all sorts of colors, fabrics, leathers, silks and suede's. So adorable, I could take one of each!
I am always fascinated by the eclectic style of homes found throughout Los Angeles. One of my favorites is the spanish style. Simple, clean, functional, light, airy, fresh!
